9. WORST: Lady Dimitrescu Is Underused

Whilst keeping your marketing limited is a good thing to do, there can be a downside. Namely, fans fill in the gaps themselves.

Lady Dimitrescu was the standout star of the game’s marketing campaign, inspiring cosplays, memes and the revelation that many Resident Evil fans secretly have a fetish for being stepped on (hey, we don’t judge).

Unfortunately, her prevalence in the marketing did create the impression for many fans that Lady Dimitrescu was going to be a bigger part of the narrative than she is. In fact, she is just the first boss, killed off roughly a quarter of the way into the campaign.

This feels underwhelming because of her prominence in the trailer, but also because she is easily the most interesting of the Four Lords, and the game feels like it loses something once she’s gone.

Lady Dimitrescu stalks the player throughout their time in her castle in a method similar to Mr. X, but unfortunately this pales in comparison. Lady Dimitrescu is limited to only a few small areas of the castle and is incredibly easy to avoid, especially when there are many safe areas where she'll leave you alone if you enter.
