Resident Evil Village: 5 Best Parts (And 5 That Sucked)
6. BEST: The Way It Resolves Resident Evil VII
Capcom don’t often give us direct sequels in the Resident Evil franchise. Often games will cycle through different protagonists. Village, however, is most definitely the second part of a story that began in Resident Evil VII.
Village takes all the best parts of VII and expands upon them. The game continues to feature the mysterious “mold” seen in the previous game, and offers us an explanation as to the origins of the strange substance.
In general, this also serves to make VII feel like less of an outlier to the main franchise.
Ethan feels recognisable as the person we knew from Resident Evil VII, but tweaked slightly to reflect the passed time. The game wraps up Ethan’s tragic story in a bittersweet ending which sees Rosemary and Mia survive but Ethan sacrifice himself to stop the growing expanse of the megamycete.
It is refreshing to get a conclusion to a main character in a franchise that seems to go out of its way to offer us any form of closure on its leading characters.
Seriously, where has Jill Valentine been since Resident Evil 5?
