Rise Of The Tomb Raider: 10 Killer Features It Must Have
2. Salvage And Upgrades
An interesting feature of Tomb Raider was the ability to upgrade the weapons throughout the game by collecting salvage hidden in a variety of places throughout the game world. While completing upgrades was addictive, there is one way which could make it even more so by making many, many more upgrades available and not nearly enough salvage to complete them all. This would mean that the player has to prioritise what they spend the salvage on. There were some upgrades which were required before specific others could be installed for example on the pistol the Polished Barrel upgrade requires the Muzzle Brake to be completed first. This could be easily expanded into different pathways enabling each weapon to be customised for a different purpose. So if you really want a stealthy pistol then there is a route for that, or alternatively there is a machine pistol set-up. The player cant install them all at once, so they would have to customise to match their gaming style. The online community loves to discuss builds for a variety of games and so by making weapons so utterly customisable, it would provoke a great deal of discussion which is the lifeblood for a games hype.
