17. You're Invulnerable During A Final Blow

If you find yourself mobbed during any group encounter, it's actually (sometimes) beneficial to keep plugging away at a foe who's Posture is about to break, as if you can trigger the final blow animation, every other incoming attack will miss.

Why? Because you're invulnerable during these finishing animations, no matter how long they last.

It would certainly be unfair of FromSoft to lock us into animations that then led to instant death, so the solution is a temporary invisible shield.

You can use this to your advantage in sticky situations though, pressing the offensive and winning the day by "absorbing" some enemy attacks, then countering afterwards as their stance is open again.
