Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice - 7 New Gameplay Details You Need To Know
4. Branching Pathways From The Beginning
Dark Souls was defined by the interconnected world of Lordran, with pretty much every single location circling back to the main hub area, the Firelink Shrine.
Even better, when you first arrived there at the game's start you were given multiple branching pathways to initially explore, rather than simply one set route. While a lot of these pathways would be far too difficult to traverse at level one, the developers still gave you the freedom to tackle the early game in whatever order you wanted.
The developers have moved more and more away from that kind of design with every release since, but they confirmed at Gamescom that, while the world may not be as intricately connected as Lordran, there will be branching paths from the get go and multiple ways to tackle the story.
