Shadow Of The Colossus: Every Colossus Ranked From Worst To Best

3. Hydrus (Colossus #7)

Shadow Of The Colossus Hydrus
Bluepoint Games

Hydrus is a total blast to fight, and one of the more dynamic and devious colossi of the game's first half. Even reaching him can be a bit of a pain, but once you get there, you have to figure out how to beat this giant, water-dwelling electric eel-like beast.

It might take you a while to figure it out, but the realisation that the player must grab onto the creature's tail-end and be dragged under water is a glorious one. Even then, staying attached isn't easy and requires smart timing, alternating between stabbing the weak points above water and holding on for dear life underneath.

Once you realise the conceit, this one's not terribly challenging, but it sure is nerve-wracking trying to hold on and not have to lure Hydrus back to your position all over again.
