8. Shantae: Half-Genie Hero - Friends To The End
The Friends to the End DLC for Shantae: Half-Genie Hero has promise. You get to play as Sky, Bolo, and Rottytops, three of the best characters in the series. You also get to know what happened during that weird out of place moment in the base game where Shantae turns evil for two seconds. It turns out that she was cured when her friends entered her mind to tell her to be good again.
It does what any good midquel should do by exploring a different perspective of the previous story. It's the gameplay that really lets Friends to the End down.
You can switch between the three characters whenever you want and they all essentially have one ability of interest. Rottytops can throw her head, wherever it lands she will appear, Sky can create platforms, and Bolo can use a grappling hook.
The game lacks any flow because of this. Instead of chaining interesting moves together, you're doing one uninteresting move before switching characters to do another uninteresting move, all really slowly.
