When you first step into Silent Hill, you might be under the impression that youre able to explore the entire city to your hearts content. Turns out thats not the case, as theyve always been linear albeit with enough exploration to discover important items. This might change with Silent Hills. In an interview with whatifgaming, the writer asked Kojima if the game would be open world. Kojima chose to be coy, of course, and he is probably waiting to reveal the answer at a later date; however, he did provide an interesting response: All I can say is Fox Engine is meant for open world. I cannot discuss more on the game design itself in detail yet. Perhaps its not an outright confirmation that the series will make the leap into open-world territory, but it certainly feels like Kojima is giving off a couple of winks and nudges. For some, this might raise two concerns: the final product might not look as good as P.T., and the narrative may become strained. Regardless of how receptive fans are to the idea, Hills could potentially change the way you explore the town.
