https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_j2Sd12BmIw Kojima enjoys being meta with his titles - the most famous example being the Psycho Mantis boss fight in Metal Gear Solid. And based off a key detail in P.T., Kojima may up the ante in Silent Hills by making it about a gamer. At the end of the demo, the fetus complains about how his no good dad would sit around and play video games all day until he suddenly snapped and decided to kill everyone. While its not confirmed, many suspect that Norman Reedus's character is the father who murdered his wife and her unborn child, and he could be the gamer since he's the star. Youtuber Dreamcastguy elaborates on this theory by discussing the fetus's remarks about how unimpressed he was by his fathers lack of originality. Video games are repetitious by nature because gamers try to perform a certain task over and over again until they get it right, so considering how tedious exploring the same hallway is, gaming culture in general could be a major theme. What we dont know is if or how Kojima will take advantage of current-gen hardware to knock down the fourth wall to scare or make fun of gamers themselves. Being able to fast forward the PlayStation 2s clock to win a boss fight in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater was mind blowing enough; and based on the horrifying scenes in P.T., anything similar might be too much for fans of Silent Hill.
