4. Hideo Kojima's Unmatched Direction And Style
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWpnLmd12c4 One of the many things that endeared Kojima to Metal Gear fans is due to his level of devotion to getting across the vision he's had for a project. Back when Konami were creating Metal Gear Solid 2 he would make small Lego models of the levels he wanted to shoot in, as with no prior camera experience himself, it was the only way to realise how the final version would turn out. Guillermo del Toro did something of the same when he came on board to direct Blade 2, turning up with entire books full of sketches detailing the Reaper enemies with which to prove to the studio executives that he had to direct the movie. It's these showings of passion and free-thinking that make both of them incredible auteurs, dedicating themselves to whichever project they know they can deliver on, and it bodes well for the future of the franchise that two very visually creative people are going to tackle a series they both love. Metal Gear is known for many things outside its barmy plot and gruff-voiced action heroes, one of them easily being the Hollywood-style direction that every cutscene since the games went 3D has received. Kojima is a man who has grown up loving American action movies and direction, yet retains the epic scope seen in some eastern animes when small heroes must battle much larger foes. The Silent Hill series is yet to tackle a Metal Gear-sized enemy, but its good to know if the need for spectacle is there, both Kojima and del Toro will bring it.
