Skyrim: 5 Ideas For Future Expansions

3. Talos Reborn

Many players will have stood in Whiterun, listening to the preacher curse the Thalmor and proclaim Talos to be a true god. The outlawing of Talos worship by the Thalmor was one of the many reasons for civil war in Skyrim, and a cause of great tension between elves and men. With this conflict already established, Bethesda could develop Talos worship into its own content. There€™s several possibilities; either the Dragonborn himself or another character could be the reincarnation of Talos, sparking a Thalmor invasion and a new fight for the future of Skyrim. This could cause problems depending on the outcome of the civil war quest, but could be manageable with a bit of clever storytelling. Having an NPC play the role of Talos, rather than the Dragonborn, would give players the opportunity to choose between aiding the Thalmor or the Nords, offering plenty of replayability. Alternatively, the story could focus on a group of Talos worshippers who, whilst performing a secret ritual, accidentally unleash a horde of daedra. A wide variety of daedric enemies was one of the things that Skyrim lacked, especially compared to its predecessor, so this option would be a really good excuse to get the demons back in the mix. Either way, a Talos DLC would represent a good way to really develop the conflict between the Thalmor and the Nords, without having to create massive new environments €“ think more Knights of the Nine than Shivering Isles.
