Skyrim: Special Edition - 10 Best-Looking Locations You Must Visit

1. The Throat Of The World

Ultimately, the greatest glory Skyrim - the game and the region - has to offer is based around the towering mountain south of its centre. The Throat of the World will open many of its wonders to you early in the game's main questline, but it'll take almost a hundred hours to survey everything the climb has to offer.

But, for all of the hidden paths and sudden vistas that you'll uncover on the way to the top, the jewel of this crown still sits firmly at the peak. Once accessible, the summit of the Throat of the World reveals itself to be home to Paarthurnax, the leader of the Greybeards and an actual, talking dragon.

Your interactions and eventual partnership with Paarthurnax will take you to the mountain's summit on many an occasion, allowing you to scan Skyrim from above and take in the true scale of what Bethesda created. With better detail available on these long perspective shots, you'll get a better sense of what you're looking at without having to keep plotting your hero's eyeline against indicators on the map.

It's at the top of this immense peak that Skyrim: Special Edition lets you reacquaint yourself with all the glory that Skyrim holds across its land. All you have to make sure is that this time you definitely do look down...
