Smash Bros. Switch: 10 New Characters Nintendo Must Add
5. Ridley
Admittedly, introducing a giant space dragon as a playable character to a fighter composed of mostly human-sized contestants poses some challenges, but Nintendo can make it work, it just needs to take some liberties with Ridley's size.
After all, it made the same sacrifice for other iconic greats, so there's no reason why Samus Aran's archnemesis can't be tinkered with in a similar way. Lord knows the Metroid series needs some attention as far as representation in the Smash series goes.
There are alternatives in the form of Dark Samus or Mother Brain's true form, but neither of those would translate well due to derivativeness and a lack of discernable limbs respectively.
No, stick with Ridley. Bring him down to the general size of Charizard for normal play and have him experience a growth spurt similarly to Bowser for his Final Smash attack.
A fair compromise.
