Forgetting for a second the madness that is... Jared Leto's... Morbius... movie... it's important to remember that the character is actually a pretty iconic member of Marvel's supernatural books, and of course Spider-Man's too.

Morbius was first created by Roy Thomas and Gil Kane and first made a splash in 1971's Amazing Spider-Man #101, which marked the beginning of the nightmare fuel that was The Six Arms Saga.

The story arc sees Peter's spider powers mutate at an alarming rate after he attempted to get rid of them, eventually leading to him sprouting four extra arms. The search for a cure leads him straight to Michael Morbius, a brilliant scientist who tragically turned himself into a vampire-esque monster with pallid skin, fangs, and some demonic red eyes for good measure.

Morbius would later become an antihero of sorts, and was always painted as something of a tragic figure, but it would still be great to see him come up against the wall-crawlers in Spider-Man 2.
