Spider-Man PS4: 10 Problems The Sequel MUST Fix
8. Photography Challenges
As fans know, photography plays a big part in Peter Parker’s life, so including some kind of photography aspect into the game was a no brainer. But sadly, Insomniac didn’t quite pull it off. The game offers up two different photo modes, one from the character’s point of view and one specifically for the players to have fun with and share screengrabs with friends.
Now that already seems a little odd. It surely would have made sense to combine the two functions into one, especially as the player photo mode has a selfie option built in. But aside from that, the game seriously underutilised the character mode. Certain missions required its use, as did collecting landmark tokens. But what makes the feature even odder is that, there is a secret photography mission within the game. There is very little attention drawn to it, and it’s not required to 100% the game, it’s just there.
Another big issue with the mechanic is just how vague it was. Players could take a picture of a blank wall and it would still recognise the image as Avengers tower, whereas an actual photographer would focus on accurately framing a picture. The whole thing really feels like an afterthought. As if the developers forgot and had to scramble something together at the last minute.
