Spider-Man PS4: 10 Problems The Sequel MUST Fix
4. Web Swinging
The most crucial part of any Spider-Man game is obviously the web swinging. Being so unique to this character, it's not something developers get to practice on very often which can mean things can go very wrong. Thankfully for Insomniac, they managed to give us some of the best web swinging since Spider-Man 2 back in 2004.
The swinging is one of the most praised mechanics within the game, offering a fluid and satisfying motion and plenty of tricks to play around with. Although it can feel sluggish at the beginning, once the player gains more experience and skills it starts to feel much smoother.
However, when it comes to precision and navigating smaller areas, the mechanic often falls short. Players often vented their frustration when trying to do small, simple movements. For instance, crawling around a corner would send Spidey off in a random direction, swinging away from where the player needs to be.
Traversing New York City feels fantastic when at full speed, but players often missed out on cool animations – such as performing a slingshot through various obstacles – due to the lack of precision available.
