It is the DLC, The Heist, that elevates Black Cat's impact on the game and makes her a far more complex and interesting character. The way she toys with Spider-Man and uses their past relationship to manipulate him is trademark for the character, and chasing her around New York is a great test for the player, combining mechanics learnt form the game's side missions in to a new narrative.

Her complexity makes her far more interesting than most of the villains in the game, so much so that calling her a villain isn't exactly accurate. Her morality is questionable and she is a criminal to be sure, but her relationship with Spider-Man and her non-violent crimes make her sympathetic and loveable, much to the annoyance of MJ and Peter alike.

Without spoiling anything, just know that the DLC adds incredible layers to the character and is well worth your time.
