7. Venom & Sandman As Major Villains

Everyone and their uncle Ben has ideas for which villains should appear in the next game, and while its predecessor served up a solid slate of mid-to-top tier baddies, Spider-Man 2 can immediately top its predecessor by throwing two God-tier Spidey villains in the mix.

Though the tail-end of the first game suggested Harry Osborn will most likely become Green Goblin, there's certainly a more interesting direction in which his arc could be taken, by having him bond with the Venom symbiote in order to save his life. After all, that ambiguous black webbing in his medi-chamber could most certainly be a symbiote.

Given how wretched the new Venom movie turned out, fans really deserve better, and considering how well the first game handled Doc Ock, he shouldn't be too much trouble to get right. Plus, Venom's just better-suited for the video game medium given the inherent awkwardness of those CGI elements in the movies.

Elsewhere, it'd be great to see Sandman join the fray as another major antagonist. Sure, having him and Venom simultaneously duking it out with Spidey might conjure up unpleasant memories of Spider-Man 3, but that movie did at least get Sandman right for the most part, and demonstrated the visually ambitious potential for his battles against the web-slinger.

It's of course damn-near guaranteed that Spider-Man 2 will end up releasing fairly early in the PS5's life cycle, and given the complex particle effects involved in translating Sandman to video game form accurately, Insomniac will need every drop of processing power they can get.
