Star Trek: 10 Video Games That Would Be Better In A Holodeck

2. Doom

DOOM0217

Hell has invaded Mars. You get to fight off the denizens of hell all by yourself. You get to use a chainsaw. First Person Shooters by their very nature try to put the player in the shoes of the protagonist. What better way to do this to to actually make you the protagonist. No controllers; just you a shotgun, chainsaw or BFG against wave after wave of demonic attacker. Teenagers lost hours to iD's 1993 shooter. Federation citizens could lose even more when playing this game on the holodeck. Nothing would stand between gamer and foe. The carnage would be epic. Doom was known almost as much for the creative mods as for the game itself. Numerous high school principals, annoying bosses and the like found their faces plastered on the in game baddies. Frustrations were taken out and laughs were had. Well, the holodeck would be able to do more than splice pictures over existing skins. Demons would be replaced by your clueless shift foreman, your overly demanding commanding officer or even your overbearing ex. Who could ask for more? Doom helped usher in the First Persons Shooter as a dominant force in gaming. It surely deserves the chance to make the jump to the holodeck. We're sure Worf would approve.
