Star Wars Battlefront 2: 8 New Features We Can't Wait To Try
6. Customizable Starfighters
If Battlefront's core first/third-person modes were considered a little light on content at launch, then God knows which adjective should be attached to Fighter Squadron. Vapid seems most appropriate, as it accurately describes the mode's feeling of total detachment from the original game's main components, one wholly self-contained in its own little bubble of aimlessness.
Battlefront 2's Starfighter Assault is going to be the dedicated, rather than phoned-in, space combat mode that Fighter Squadron should have been, and because of that, pilotable ships in every game type are going to benefit from added depth by means of customization.
See, the expanded Star Card system won't be exclusive to on-the-ground combat, as your favorite faction ships can also be kitted out to your own specifications. DICE's own examples specify handling speed, maneuverability and expanded ammo reserves, but it's not an exhaustive list, so expect a few cool surprises, especially for special, one-of-a-kind ships like the Millennium Falcon come November.
