Star Wars Battlefront 2: 8 Things It Must Learn From Battlefield 1
2. A Better Loot Box System
Like it or not, loot boxes are coming to Battlefront 2. However, there are ways to do loot boxes right: and that's to essentially do the exact opposite of what Battlefield 1 did back in 2016.
Instead of shipping the game with a large amount of customisable items that you could find in loot boxes, DICE's latest game instead released the items in 'tiers', an ever-rotating selection of a dozen or so skins and weapons that you could unlock for a set amount of time.
Unfortunately, that meant that if you didn't like or want any of the options included in a selection, you had to wait until the next tier to see what would be available then. Likewise, the small amount of items on show meant that you often recieved duplicates, decreasing the likelihood of getting you wanted anyway.
Even worse, these loot boxes were given out randomly at the end of every multiplayer match, meaning that there was no way to know when you'd next have the chance to unlock something.
Going forward, Battlefront 2 needs to throw out this system entirely in favour of something fairer and more appealing if it wants to make its loot boxes work.
