Star Wars Battlefront: 8 Big Things It Must Learn From The Older Games

4. Galactic Conquest Is A Must-Have

To echo my previous point, Battlefront needs its tactical side explored further. It never was an RTS or even a tactical FPS in the vein of Rainbow Six or Ghost Recon, but it did have an element that was never really utilised to its fullest. I am of course talking about 'Galactic Conquest' - the mode often neglected in favour of the original series' much loved 'Instant Action'. Its premise revolved around pitting players against each other both on the battlefield and in the galaxy too, as each one commands their own fleet of troops and plans the war effort directly from above. Choosing which planet to attack and where to position your defences led to a clever game of cat and mouse, and helped change the pace of the game's more speedy and 'to the point' modes. (Even if it did lead to the occasional space battle deadlock) Whilst the reboot's success isn't at all dependant on bringing each and every last element we've come to love of the franchise front and centre again, it would add much needed variety to a game that already appears light on game modes.
