3. Sound Design And Overall Presentation Is Impeccable
The crackling hum of a lightsaber, the various pings and zaps of blaster-fire, the breathless sound of Lord Vader and the snow crunching under mighty AT-AT feet - we got a sensational sense of how immersive Battlefront can be when it's firing on all cylinders. Something that transfers across wholeheartedly to the final product.
Gamespot's Mike Mahardy writes; "Dynamic lighting, vivid textures, windswept forests - developer DICE has crafted a nuanced, detailed world begging for a closer look. [...] Rain glistens on drooping leaves. Icy crystals extend from cavern walls. You can even see clouds of dust billow across Tatooine's arid scenery. It doesn't just pack one hell of a visual punch though, sound design across all the levels is impeccably tuned to give each a great sense of identity and place. You may just be one tiny soldier amongst a sea of others, but that feeling of being in a war-torn battlefield focussed on survival is conveyed perfectly; "Explosions carry through bunker walls, even as the pitter patter of rain strikes ferns in the wind. It speaks volumes that I considered turning the ubiquitous soundtrack off at times, just to hear the detail in Battlefront's world." (Gamespot)
