Star Wars Battlefront Reviews: 11 Critical Reactions You Need To Know

2. Solo/Offline Players Have The Limited (But Fun) Survival Mode

The Tatooine level in the beta was a pretty solid indication of how this mode was going to go; a wave-based survival mode with a couple of tiny cutscenes either end and the majority of time spent trying to hold one position on the map. That said, IGN's Mitch Dyer wrote - on his review in progress "Survival mode is Battlefront€™s most unexpected success". It seems playing offline yourself or grabbing a friend for some co-operative help is a huge amount of fun, and the perfect way to play if you're just not up for another massive 40-player battle. "New enemies with invisibility, jetpacks, extra armor, and shields force you to change the way you react to each assault" and "it€™s especially rewarding on higher difficulties", but Dyer ends by saying, "entertaining as these deep, involving missions are, there aren€™t many compelling reasons to replay a Survival mission once you€™ve finished."
