Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order - 10 Things That MUST Be Included
9. Jedi Knight-Style Combat
Ask any Star Wars fan what their favourite game based on the series is, and they're likely to say Knights of the Old Republic. But while Bioware's revolutionary RPG was certainly brilliant, there's another title that can contest that crown, and that is Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.
Developed by Raven Software and Vicarious Visions in 2002, Jedi Outcast revolved around former Jedi Kyle Katarn as he's forced to mend his connection to the Force. The game boasted a mix of FPS and third-person gameplay, with players able to use a variety of blasters and force powers in combat, but the biggest attraction was Katarn's lightsaber, which to date remains the most authentic one to have appeared in the gaming medium.
It felt weighty, delicate and devastating all at once, and it was satisfying to use on Stormtroopers and Force users alike. When it came to the latter, Jedi Knight's duelling mechanics were a cut above the rest, allowing players to duel single or multiple Sith opponents at once, with lightsabers clashing authentically throughout.
One of the biggest problems with Star Wars titles is that most have had the tendency to make lightsabers feel like an over-glorified blunt instrument, but Jedi Knight knew better. Limbs flew off, enemies were frequently impaled, and it never lacked challenge.
