Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy PS4 Review
A Different Kind Of Star Wars Story
Academy isn’t so much of a personal story as Outcast was, with this being less of a tale of redemption and revenge and more or growing to better the galaxy. Or maybe conquer it? This is very much a game that accommodates the player and lets them play how they wish, from the force powers they learn, to even how this game will end.
Kyle Katarn might be taking more of a back seat in this adventure, but with all the customisation options Jaden is actually a suitable replacement.
Now whereas Jaden might be a bit of a blank slate for the most part and the male voice performance doesn’t quite hole up to 2020 standards, after just a few missions the player will become lost in their quest to becoming one with the force
But seriously, play as the female version of Jaden. This performance is so less cringy to sit through.
Academy solves the issue many had with Outcast and grants players everything a young Jedi would want from the get-go. So no need to rush the first few levels to get to the good stuff. Not only that, but this entry in the Jedi Knight series has Jaden going to familiar locations and meeting old friends.
It might seem like it is going out of its way to feed that nostalgia bug, but that isn’t always a bad thing.
