Star Wars Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy PS4 Review

The Galaxy Awaits

Jedi Academy Rancor
LucasArts

At times they certainly might come across as “the greatest hits” of Star Wars, but the vast number of levels and the sheer variety on offer here is quite astounding when you take a step back. Now before this seems like a cheap trick to get the nostalgia juices flowing, there is indeed a perfect narrative reason to return to iconic locations such as Mos Eisley or Echo Base.

These locations and many others from the films are strong with the Force and are being harvested by a new mysterious cult whom seek to bring the Dark Side back, and greater than before.

Aside from the familiar, Jedi Academy isn’t afraid to add in the new. Every time the player gets into the rhythm of things, LucasArts would throw in a curveball level to shake things upkeep even the most skilled Jedi on their toes.

How about a level focused around a speeder bike chase, maybe one where Jaden is pursued by an unstoppable Rancor or perhaps a throwback to the movie tremours? The story here might not be on the same level as Outcast, but in terms of level design and variety, Academy has it all.
