Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 3 - 10 Things That Must Be Included
7. A Greater Focus On Lightsaber Combat
The Force Unleashed titles have always had (as its namesake suggests) a predominant focus on utilising the force, sadly at the expense of Lightsaber combat. The third game should absolutely take the necessary steps to make the iconic weapon feel as awesome as it looks.
One series that really nailed Lightsaber combat was the Jedi Knight line, with both Outcast and Academy really making you feel as though they were wielding such a powerful, signature weapon. Included within Academy were multiple fighting styles that not just let players choose the speed and ferocity of their attacks, but also the type of 'saber they wanted as well.
One mistake the first Force Unleashed made was in making Lightsabers feel very feeble - lacking any real capacity to dismember or decapitate. Whilst refraining from cartoonishly overt gore, cauterised wounds and limb-loss are a very real consequence of playing with a laser-sword, and differentiates them from the usual run of the mill weapons present in other titles.
Simply put, the next game has to give the weapon the treatment it deserves - bring the Lightsaber to the front and centre where it belongs.
