Street Fighter 5: 8 Improvements Capcom Must Make

3. Character Rebalance

Balance in a fighting game is a particularly tricky beast. While some characters will inevitably have advantages over other characters, it needs to be seen that every character will have good advantages and disadvantages against others.

Guile plays strongest by smartly keeping the opponent away from himself, while Zangief is slow to move, but a powerful monster once he gets in close. This creates an interesting, dynamic power struggle between both characters when they fight.

In that respect, Capcom has released a very well-balanced fighting game, but it's still imperfect. The Capcom Pro Tour has 32 competitors, but most of them will be playing Ryu, Necalli, Rainbow Mika, Chun-Li, and Ken. All of these characters have advantages that seem to, at the moment, greatly outweigh other's disadvantages.

If Capcom brings the top characters down to the level of the others, brings the weaker up to snuff, or manages to do both at once? it'll create a much richer game that sees a far more diverse selection offline and online.
