Sunset Overdrive: 10 Things It Does Better Than Anyone Else

Xbox One owners finally have their first essential purchase.

The Xbox One is nearing its first birthday and it's had a fairly shaky start. Still carrying a poor reputation from Microsoft's catastrophic PR failures in the build-up to launch, the system is lacking in system-selling titles - it seems many people are still looking for a reason to upgrade from their Xbox 360. Insomniac Games' Sunset Overdrive was announced to mild reaction at last year's E3 event but with the game now complete and out in the wild, it could very well be the best available on the Xbox One right now. That sounds ludicrous, right? After all, it's not as if the Xbox One is devoid of solid games - Destiny, Titanfall and Forza Horizon 2 are just some of the great games released on the platform in this last year. Crucially though Sunset Overdrive tries something new, and it's an intriguing yet exciting proposition. There's a bevy of great ideas introduced here and most (if not all) of them work fantastically well. Still not convinced? It's hard to wrap your head around the brilliance of Overdrive without breaking down the elements that make it so fun in the first place. This article seeks to do exactly that, and hopefully introduce some new players to the *ahem* Awesomepocalypse (just go with it). If you've picked up Sunset Overdrive and been impressed by what you've found, leave your thoughts in the comments below and help introduce new players to one of gaming's most exciting new titles.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
