Sunset Overdrive: 10 Things It Does Better Than Anyone Else

2. Punk Isn't Dead

Sunset Overdrive's style encompasses a lot of the things already detailed in this article and brings them together beautifully. The bright colours of Sunset City and the crazed customisation of your characters only work because the game has a wonderful over-the-top sense of style - something that's surprisingly hard to find in gaming nowadays. Most successful video games tend to try and be as realistic as possible but here it goes in the complete opposite direction; this is a game that's all about causing over-the-top mayhem. The characters are outlandish and loud (the voice acting is accordingly great) and as said before Sunset City is created and moulded to be the perfect playground. It has a real unique take on a traditional dystopian feel which makes your punk-styled mayhem all the more exciting - this is a game that's all about sticking it to 'the man' in the most stupidly fun ways possible. The game's punk style can be seen in the soundtrack too - bands like The Bronx and The Melvins created songs specifically for the game and their punky expertise captures the essence of everything perfectly. It's very rare to see a game that's not afraid to stand out and be different - Sunset Overdrive endears itself from its very first moments for this very reason.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
