Sunset Overdrive: 10 Things It Does Better Than Anyone Else
6. Questionable (But Creative) Weapon Variety
An over-the-top thrill-ride that gives you a chaotic playground like no other; conventional weapons simply weren't going to be good enough here. It doesn't allow you to scavenge and create your weapons (like Dead Rising, for example) but there is a wide variety of silly but effective weaponry available, all of which can be purchased and equipped to fit the players' specific needs. The first gun you'll receive in the game is the Flaming Compensator; a fiery shotgun that looks like it came straight out of an Austin Powers movie (and suddenly, the name makes sense). It's an amazingly effective weapon but there are plenty more to discover throughout; the TNTeddy launches explosive bears, the High Fidelity bounces vinyl records off foes, while the Captain Ahab shoots spears at them. You'll notice that every gun comes equipped with a pun-tastic name, and each is effective against a different type of enemy (the Flaming Compensator is strong against the OC and Scabs but useless against Fizz-Co Robots). You can also add effects (like a stun or extra damage) to each gun through the use of the Amps, which increases their versatility to make them more effective in specific scenarios. There's a lot to play around with but thankfully, putting together a decent arsenal of weapons is never dull or tedious.
I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
