Sunset Overdrive: 10 Things It Does Better Than Anyone Else

4. Crazy Co-Op With A Competitive Edge

Chaos Squad is a multiplayer mode brings your single-player character into the big, bad online world. In basic terms, it's is a co-op mode inspired by the various Horde modes found in games nowadays but it adds new elements and features which make the whole thing noticeably fresher. For starters, there's an important competitive edge to the whole thing. Players race between missions (extra points are awarded if you arrive first) and everybody's score is constantly being tracked - if you're falling behind in the kills, everybody will be aware. Players have to work together to complete an eight-man night defence - defending a base from constant waves of OD - but before that, small missions are completed to determine which boosts players will receive to help them and how chaotic the actual defence will be. Higher Chaos totals will see greater numbers of OD attacking but the rewards (if you survive) will be greater. Before the night defence, players vote to decide which missions to complete and each mission adds a certain percentage of Chaos while also improving the players' survival chances with benefits like increased trap health or greater damage against certain OD types. These shorter missions range from massive killing brawls (with impressive numbers of enemies on screen) to more varied challenges like breaking as many boxes as possible. It's a hard system to grasp at first but once you've completed a few Chaos Squad missions, you'll be thinking like a pro, desperate trying to come up with new strategies to build up the Chaos and reap the rewards.

I have an addiction to achievements, a craving for new bands and a dream to become Captain America. I once finished second in a Mario Kart 7 tournament so I'm kind of a big deal.
