Mario Kart DS is still arguably the very best Mario Kart game Nintendo have ever produced. The first true 3D Mario Kart that players could take with them on the go, the game was filled with impressive graphics, a stripped-back more traditional approach, a variety of karts and characters, revolutionary local multiplayer options and a whole host of extra bonus content for players to enjoy.

On top of the usual customisable battle modes, the best of these bonus features was the game's Mission Mode. Apparently a last minute add-on, Nintendo threw in 63 unique missions featuring every course and characters that could range from simply navigating through some gates in a certain time limit, to using a special item to defeat some enemies.

All of these mission stages were finished off with a unique Boss too. Most of these Bosses are the same ones from Super Mario 64 such as King Bob-omb, Eyerock, Big Bully and King Boo, but all featured their own special lairs with unique designs. For just a little bonus bit of content, there's an incredible amount of detail behind these Missions, and it's the one feature most Mario Kart fans would love to see make a return.
