Transforming characters in Mario games seems to be becoming more and more popular with Nintendo these days. Super Mario 64 DS was perhaps the first time players had the opportunity to take control of and play as a different heroes with their various hats across the game's worlds, and has been since built upon with the likes of Cappy and his capturing abilities in Super Mario Odyssey.

Super Mario 3D Land takes this transformation fun and gives it an unique twist however. The game has a feature where certain Goombas will drop a mask of their faces that players will be able to pick up for themselves. These masks cover the player's head and bodies and allow them to sneak past groups of enemies without being harassed.

What makes it a memorable feature that would be awesome to see again however is summarised in one quick moment. After picking up the Goomba Mask in World 6-3, players can find a little room where a group of Goombas are waiting around to be let loose. Without the mask on, they simply run out and attack the players, but with it on Mario and his friends are free to run in and live their best life as one of the Mushroom Kingdom's most iconic baddies.
