Super Nintendo Classic: All 21 SNES Games Announced - Ranked
7. Super Mario RPG: Legend Of The Seven Stars
Considering Mario has always been Nintendo's flagship character, it came as something of a surprise when the final Mario game released on the SNES was not only made by someone entirely different - the geniuses at Square - but was also an unconventional RPG.
But thanks tot Square's experience and the strength of the Mario brand, Mario's first foray into RPG gaming was a lot of fun. The graphics were among the best released on the console, and the gameplay is typically entertaining, even when it's fairly simple. In short, the game is an excellent in-point for Mario fans to enjoy RPG play, and that's no bad thing.
What sets Legend Of The Seven Stars apart is the sense of humour behind the excellent writing, and a great story that seems to effortlessly fit Mario's whole "rescue the Princess" mantra. It has deserved a true sequel forever, but at least this might feel like a new play experience.
