Super Nintendo Classic: All 21 SNES Games Announced - Ranked
3. Super Mario World
Having already staked a claim as the greatest video game character of all time, Mario Mario dialled everything up for Super Mario World and sold a stunning 20 million copies as a result. That's not just impressive, it's phenomenal - especially when you consider it outsold its nearest sales rival by 2 to 1.
Is it the greatest platform game ever released? There's definitely a compelling argument that suggests so. It is the culmination of everything Nintendo had done up to this point, with exciting, refreshing gameplay evolutions bolted on - like Mario's ability to fly with his cape. It was fun, surprisingly challenging and hugely rewarding, and it rightly deserves to be considered among the very vest 2D games ever.
And since it introduced Yoshi for the first time, it's important to Nintendo gamers on a whole other level.
