Super Nintendo World: 8 Bold Predictions For Universal's New Theme Park
1. It's Not Going To Open With A Zelda Section
This is a bit of disappointing prediction, but I do think it's true nevertheless. Since the official announcement of Nintendo's collaboration with Universal Studios on a Nintendo theme park, many fans have been speculating what it might be like to see a lifelike recreation of Hyrule Castle or Hyrule Field, a world of Keese and Rupees and Stalfos.
Well... Nintendo World is unlikely to open with any of that stuff. Though it's called Nintendo World, when it first opens, it's mostly going to be Mario-centric.
After all, Mario is Nintendo's big, family friendly mascot; his games sell much more than the Zelda series, yet the name "Nintendo World", rather than, say, "Mario World" is a tactic that allows Nintendo to expand on the park in the years after its launch, based on its success.
It's also a way of selling a broad array of Nintendo merchandise, rather than just Mario stuff. I'm not claiming Zelda and other properties won't be a part of the park, just don't expect to see any big Zelda or Metroid rides, or even any enormous recreations of their worlds. At the very least, there'll be merch in shops, perhaps some themed food and a few costumed employees.
