7. Sir Arthur (Ghosts N' Goblins)
Arthur would share abilities and attacks similar to that of Link and his variations (Toon and Young respectively), having ranged tools like spears, lances, boomerangs and fire bombs to attack his opponents, but lacking the hefty sword that the Hero of Time has. Upon landing the killer blow on an ever trolling Smash Ball, Arthur could jump into his bling'd out golden armour and start shooting magic at everyone.
Arthur’s small size would mean he’d be an easier knockout, being roughly the size of characters like Diddy Kong, Mario and Ness, and his speed/attack power should be poised around the higher than average mark.
Our noble knight is no stranger to fighting games, so Nintendo could look at what Capcom have done with him in Marvel vs Capcom and Street Fighter X All Capcom and take inspiration from his former appearances.
