Quick marketing tip for anyone wanting to successfully launch a game on Steam: make a promotional item for Team Fortress 2, Hey, worked for Sam & Max, Worms Reloaded, Don’t Starve, Sleeping Dogs, Poker Night at the Inventory, the list goes on. Just PLEASE stop re-skinning the stock weapons! Every time there’s a new promotional item, everyone collectively loses their minds and start to clamber over one another to get their hands on it or cave in and buy the game that they may never play in order to get something they already own.

A re-skin is basically a weapon that already exists in the game but made to look like a different weapon. The damage and every other aspect of the weapon is the same, except you're usually wielding something from a different game altogether, like the frying pan from Left 4 Dead 2. Some of the weapons look cool, but re-skinning the original melee weapons emphasizes a problem that Team Fortress 2 has had for a while now, which is that everything is better than the stock melee weapons.

So, instead of having the same old weapons that act more like status symbols as opposed to real weapons, it’d be nice to have new interesting weapons put in the game. The medic’s bone-saw became obsolete seven years ago, and nothing has changed since then.
