Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best

12. Tekken Advance

Translating Tekken for the Game Boy Advance was a gargantuan task on its own as the handheld wasn't really known for 3D graphics. The result of this experiment was Tekken Advance - a 2001 fighting game based on Tekken 3 and Tekken Tag Tournament.

The franchise's unique four-button command system was reduced to 2 buttons due to the Game Boy's layout. Another downside was because of hardware limitations, Tekken Advance had a minimal roster and only one unlockable character.

On the positive end, however, the game used sprites based on character models from Tekken Tag Tournament which made it one of the best-looking games on the system. Another positive was the bonus game modes such as Survival, Team Battle and Tag Mode, which added replay value.

Because of this, Tekken on the GBA was ultimately a mixed bag despite the developers' best efforts to translate the series to the device. Yet still, the ambition of the product cannot be understated and as a handheld fighter, it is fun to play, just not the Tekken experience you were probably looking for.
