Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best
10. Tekken
The one that started it all - the original Tekken may have aged like milk, yet its influence cannot be understated.
As the direct competitor to Sega's Virtua Fighter, a big innovation of this game was its control scheme. See, most fighting games at the time featured a button combination of light, medium, and heavy attacks. Tekken, on the other hand, introduced a system where each limb had a corresponding button. This led to more fluid combos and a unique control scheme that would be used in other fighting games in the years to come.
Another big appeal of Tekken was its colorful cast of characters. From Kazuya Mishima, Paul Phoenix, Nina Williams, and more, you could choose a diverse set of fighters to face off against Heihachi Mishima, the game's final boss. The home release version even allowed players to unlock the sub-bosses such as Lee Chaolan, Ganryu, and more.
Has Tekken aged a lot? Yes, as attested by its so-bad-they're-good CGI endings. But without this entry, the series wouldn't exist in the first place, and the fighting game genre wouldn't be the same without it.
