Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best
9. Tekken 6
Expectations were high after the return to form of Tekken 5 and Tekken 5: Dark Resurrection, and fans were eagerly waiting for the next evolution in the series.
The result was Tekken 6 - released in arcades in 2007 and in home consoles in 2009.
The title had two new features: the Bound System and the Rage System. For the former, this allowed players to extend their combos and enabled them to juggle their opponents mercilessly. Rage, on the other hand, gave losing fighters increased attacks at low health. These two features would prove divisive, however, with many feeling that Bound made matches more cheap and tedious, while Rage gave opponents too much of an advantage.
Another negative was the story.
Turning Jin Kazama into a villain who starts a world war proved controversial among fans, and new protagonists Lars and Alisa were characters you either loved or hated. At the same time, Scenario Campaign felt like a downgrade compared to the previous Tekken Force modes, and the narrative was all over the place, even for fighting game standards.
Yet despite these major flaws, Tekken 6 also brought a lot of positives such as being fun to play, being the first title to be released outside of PlayStation, with robust online play and detailed customisation options.
