Tekken: Every Game Ranked From Worst To Best

4. Tekken 2

Tekken 2

Tekken 2 is fondly remembered as the entry point for a good number of old school fans. Where many came on board through the original, T2's refined, speedier and all-round better-looking gameplay was far more in-line with a mass demographic, seeing Namco flesh out the roster in tow.

From 17 to now 23 differentiable characters, here is where you can really start to see the seeds of Tekken as we know it today start to grow. The lightning-fast exchanges between characters, chain grapples, side-steps for certain characters - even modes like Survival and Team Battle made their debut, going on to appear in almost every future instalment.

Every character from the original returned, spruced up with far more moves across the board - not to mention the introduction of fan-favourite Lei Wulong, the cartwheeling Jun Kazama and brutal Muay Thai boxer, Bruce Irvin.

If Tekken 1 was the first gig, Tekken 2 was rocketing up to nab a headline spot within less than a year. The fact that the time between both games was actually less than a year is quite remarkable, and a testament to just how much Namco were firing on all cylinders.
