The Best Video Game Plot Twist We Never Got To Play

But let me go back at bit so it makes sense. The core of the original Prey's plot surrounded the Sphere. Though it may look like a planet, it's actually a massive sentient alien space station that abducts alien races kinda as a food source. In the first game it gets blown to all hell by protagonist Tommy, but the story of this mysterious alien phenomenon wasn't going to end there.

Though it initially seemed to be a total departure, Prey 2 was set to feature yet another Sphere, though this one markedly different from the original. It’s not entirely clear how, but the Sphere in Prey 2 would have had some kind of connection to the game's open world. With the plan to eventually connect it directly to the plot of the first game, the sequel was set to explore the unknowable and reality-bending properties of the Sphere's power.

The video revealed that Samuels and Tommy would eventually team up in the hopes of destroying yet another Sphere in order to save the species it hoovered up.

Along the way, you'd realise why Samuels couldn't remember anything about his past. Up until the start of the game, his time on Exodus had essentially been a constant state of purgatory, with the bounty hunter completing jobs and living day by day for years at a time. The sense he was reliving the same day, though, wouldn't just be a thematic beat, but would actually be woven into the story...
