The Division: 10 Brand New Details You Need To Know About
4. It's Geared Towards Multiplayer
Ubisoft have came out at the start of 2016 and made a big song and dance about this being "a great single player game. Period", however you need only look at the gameplay footage out there to note that it's intended to be played with friends. Much like Destiny (and that's going to get compared a lot from here on out), you can choose to play solo, but you'd be missing out on the main crux of its appeal; wiping out the enemy threat through team-tactics and constant communication. Destiny even had raids that were geared towards multiple players, and although gamers did manage to eventually clock them individually, it remains by and large a multiplayer experience. Carry that across to The Division, and the main reason given for how it can be played solo is down to the enemy scaling. Which is to say, they take way more bullets to put down if there are more of you in a party. That's it. There isn't some incredibly involving story, multiple cutscenes acted in such a way to make them memorable over the dynamic interactions you can have out in the field. The Division is a multiplayer game, at least in terms of how Ubi would like you to play it.
