This shouldn't be too surprising considering that it's a Ubisoft game and all, but the lack of mission variety is still pretty disappointing. The story missions typically follow a very similar formula: infiltrate a landmark, activate a number of trinkets while fending off a wave of bullet fodder each time, and when you finally finish the job, you'll have a super-tough boss enemy to unload thousands of rounds into until they finally drop and you hoover up that plentiful EXP. It probably doesn't help that there aren't even that many story missions to tackle, and so you'll need to take on the array of side missions and "encounters" that pop up periodically, which sadly aren't much more inventive and tend to repeat the same template-driven goals. Thankfully the gameplay still tends to be enjoyable when you're in a decent four-man hit squad, but it feels like Ubisoft are expecting players to generate their own emergent narratives with friends rather than actually cook up diverse, set piece-driven experiences for us.
