The Elder Scrolls: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Khajit

4. They Were Here Before Anyone Else

There's a lot of speculation about who the first inhabitants of Tamriel truly were, with most believing the ancient Ayleid race of Elves being the proud holders of the title. Elder Scrolls Oblivion players are sure to think that with all of the lost race's temples and lost legends to play through throughout the game.

In reality however, it was the bestial races of Argonians and Khajiits that were the very first races to make a home on Tamriel.

According to ancient Ayleid reports, there were various Khajiit nomad groups found right across the country when the ancient Elves first settled there, proving that they had the beating of anyone else.

According to these reports, the groups were far from civilised however.

Ayleid explorers remarked that these native 'beasts' were unintelligent and either found on two or four legs.

It's hard to know exactly how organised these groups were or how sophisticated their societies were, but even the legendary warrior from the Oblivion Knights of the Nine DLC, Pelinal Whitestrake, claimed to have come into contact with the Khajiit during his days on Tamriel.

Eventually however, the Khajiit would be driven south down to Elsweyr by the incoming Elves.
