The Elder Scrolls: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Khajit

2. A Khajiit's Breed Depends On The Placement Of The Moon

As mentioned in some of the other entries, the moons of Masser and Secunda are absolutely everything to the Khajiit. It is believed that when the ancient god Lorkhan was destroyed he became the two moons players see in the sky, and most pantheons accept that the moons are representations of his two-faced, trickster nature.

It is believed by the Khajiit that they were the race moulded by the daedric god of the dusk and dawn, Azura, who gave them the power to transform depending on their shapes and positioning so long as they continued to worship it.

Just like in the real world, the moons in the Elder Scrolls go through different phases: full, waxing, new and waning. Instead of this just being something to marvel at from afar, these phases directly impact what a Khajiit might look like when they're born.

In order for a Khajiit to look like the kind of characters players of the Elder Scrolls games are probably most familiar with, Masser has to be in its waxing phase whilst Secunda is full.

However this is just one subspecies, and there are dozens of different Khajiit that can be born depending on the positioning of the two moons.
