The Elder Scrolls 6: 8 Things Bethesda Must Change To Stay Relevant
1. Improvements To Level Scaling And Difficulty
In The Elder Scrolls there are no difficulty settings, and that's fair enough. The game implements a system that scales enemies to your level in order to keep things challenging, and while it's an excellent idea, it really needs a tweak.
In Oblivion, enemies scaled in terms of their equipment and monster density - which eventually saw Cyrodiil's citizens plagued by bandits in Daedric armor, and fields full of roaming demons. It got a bit crazy. In Skyrim, many enemies simply saw their level increase in proportion to your own.
The issue is, that there comes a point in most games where you've become so skilled, so familiar with the rules of the game world, or have gear so powerful, that moment to moment combat just isn't a challenge or a problem for you.
To combat this, The Elder Scrolls 6's take on level scaling should look to make further adjustments to the formula so that every encounter feels relevant - both challenging and rewarding.
